If a Lodge wishes for personnel from the California-Hawaii Elks Major Project, Inc. (CHEMPI) to participate in its fund raising activities for the Elks Major Project, they should request a Lodge Request for Professional Staff Participation, CHEMPI Form 11 from the Fresno office.
We have highly dedicated and qualified professional staff to serve the needs of the clients of your Major Project. Although the first priority of the professional staff is to provide aid to children with disabilities, our staff is frequently in high demand to help tell the success stories of the Major Project at the local Lodge level. These talented individuals make personal appearances and presentations at regular meetings, open meetings, fund raisers or drive their CHEMPI vehicles in parades to show the local Elks Lodges' involvement in community service activities.
How can a professional staff person be invited to appear at a particular event? Our professional staff personnel are happy to work with the Lodges in arranging the presentations, which will normally be after the therapy or screening work day or on weekends. These visitations, by Major Project policy, are without financial rewards and utilize the staff's personal time, so we do ask that the visitations be planned and scheduled in advance. Your advance planning will allow the Fresno office time to work around the professional staff's vacations, holidays and family plans to have the appropriate staff person appear at your function.
Quite often we are asked to have a child with a disability appear with the therapist. Due to the fragile condition of some of the clients, and considering the time, distance and other factors, it is not always possible but we will try our best to accommodate you when requested.
The form should be filled out in detail and submitted to the Fresno office. If you have any questions, they will assist you in completing the CHEMPI Form 11 - Lodge Request for Professional Staff Participation.
The Lodge should be aware that it is responsible for all expenses of the CHEMPI personnel and client/family participation. They must extend all courtesies to these people as they are donating their time.
How do you request a professional staff member?
An Elks Lodge that would like to request a therapist to visit should fill out CHEMPI Form 11. These forms should be in every Elks Lodge. If you need a form, please request it from the CHEMPI office in Fresno.
This request should be made one month or more prior to the date of the function. It is suggested that the visitation be on a social night rather than a Lodge meeting night so that spouses can attend and the attendance is better. Be sure to advertise this visitation in your bulletin and in your local paper. Inviting the public should be considered. Be sure to have piggy banks at the tables and information on the Major Project available.
There is no charge for this visitation. However, dinner (or lunch) for the therapist, spouse, child and parents should be furnished at Lodge expense. Additional helpful information may be found in the booklet, "My Lodge is Having a Fund-Raiser for the Major Project." You may order this free of charge from the Fresno office, or download CHEMPI Form 11 here.
